With New Roles in Amazon, Walmart and Binance Crypto Industry Gets De Facto Fully Legalized

U.S. retail giant Walmart (WMT) is reportedly looking for someone to develop a roadmap for digital currency and is joining Amazon (AMZN) in the search for ways to allow shoppers to pay for goods using cryptocurrencies.

The hiring announcement on its website says Walmart is looking for a senior director at the company's headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, who will “identify customer needs and translate them into product requirements,”.

The position will be also responsible for developing the megaretailer's "digital currency strategy and product roadmap" as well as identifying "crypto-related investment and partnerships," according to the job posting on Walmart's website.

According to Bloomberg, Walmart is looking for someone with "visionary leadership" qualities with at least 10 years of product management or technology experience to develop its blockchain strategy, preferably someone possessing "significant functional knowledge of the cryptocurrency ecosystem" and an "entrepreneurial mindset".

Recently Amazon, currently the biggest global retailer, as we mentioned, found itself in the spotlight by saying it is recruiting for a similar senior position, which was entitled “Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead”. According to that one’s job description, the person’s responsibilities will entail “leveraging the domain expertise in Blockchain, Distributed Ledger, Central Bank Digital Currencies and Cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities”. Commenting on that post, Amazon’s spokesman said “We believe the future will be built on new technologies that enable modern, fast, and inexpensive payments, and hope to bring that future to Amazon customers as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, in respect to the most talked-about newly hired crypto roles, Binance, the largest cryptocurrency trading platform in the world, has hired a former IRS criminal investigator, Greg Monahan, to oversee investigations into money laundering, according to an announcement from the company. Monahan’s official title is announced as Global Money Laundering Reporting Officer. Probably, not coincidentally, Wu Blockchain wrote in its Twitter that “the Chinese community found that Binance resumed the registration of Chinese mobile phone numbers after suspending for two weeks”. The industry is apparently getting stronger and more legitimate by day.
